Remi Cachet Tip: Think about separating your person social media accounts from your business accounts. This way, you can control who sees what and avoid mixing up your messaging as well as your audiences.
We love how our brilliant Super Stylist Amy Gold @goldielockshairextensions_ does this on her Instagram, educating her clients on products...
This is a perfect example of how upselling can be strategised on your social media platforms!
Amy explains “I love using social media graphics to inform my clients about the products I use and explaining what’s so good about them. Sharing my knowledge through content means that my clients don’t have to go looking for the answers. Not only does it help them get the most out of their hair extensions, but it also helps them understand the at home aftercare process more. Overtime, I have picked up on frequently asked questions or the tip and tricks that are most helpful to clients and from there I can focus on those things and upsell the products my clients would benefit most from.”
Make sure you have plenty of products you want to talk about on your Social Media in stock. We have a range of bundle deals currently available to help you do this, for less…

2. Utilise The Characters In Your Descriptions
Keeping it short and sweet, give your post visitors the information they want to know about the look you created;
- If any, what hair extensions is the client wearing?
- If hair extensions were used, what length? What colour?
- What styling tools and other haircare products did you use?
What is the best way to reach you if they want to discuss a product or service? A simple “drop me a direct message if you like the look of this” could go a long way in your upselling strategy.
Providing your clients with this information may just shorten the time it takes from your clients to have an interest in your products/services to purchasing them.
Remi Cachet Tip: Always place the after picture first so this is seen initially when people are scrolling. They can then swipe to see the before and then you have a more engaging post.
Following on from the above point, have a “Call To Action” as shortened, a CTA. Similarly to “Drop me a message…”, as discussed previously, other CTA’s such as “Available Now, So Visit Soon” or “Shop Now On My Website” give clarity to your clients about how they can purchase which can make the process smoother, helping purchases to increase.
As mentioned in "How To Make More Money As A Hairstylist" there is a significant opportunity over the Christmas period when gifting is at its prime to upsell gifting options, for less. Social Media is a great way to push these promotions, whether it’s an Instagram story/post, Facebook post or TikTok video, this a great way to get your promotions out there and in turn, help upsell your products/services.
5. Highlight Positive Testimonials
If somebody is interested in a product or service something that may help complete the upsell is a fantastic testimonial. A positive review could potentially be their deciding factor for someone to purchase, so if you have any positive feedback from your clients about a product or service, share it.
Remi Cachet Tip: Add a highlight on your Instagram with all your customer testimonials alongside an image of your work to make these stand out and to provide context.
WEBSITE:
As mentioned for your Social Media, make any special offers you are running clear on your website. Especially over the approaching season of Christmas when gifting is at its prime, this is a significant opportunity to upsell products/services with any discounts you have to get their gifts, for less. Highlighting these on your website is a great way to push these promotions, whether its in the form of a banner, mentioned on your “Offers” page, or both, your website is a great way to get your promotions out there and in turn help upsell your products/services.
Whether it is in the form of a pop-up, a landing page or both, highlighting your “new arrivals” could be key to upselling. Maybe your regular clients are visiting your website to book an appointment and the “New Arrivals” pop-up intrigues them to have a look, which then results in a sale. This is something that wasn’t their intention when visiting your website but they have left with a sale… a great upselling strategy for your business.
Does your website allow you to recommend related products or services? If so, are you optimising this opportunity? If not, why not? This is a great opportunity to upsell similar products or services to what your client is purchasing. For example, if your client wants to book a fitting online (more about Diary Management to come…) could a hair curling service after the fitting be upsold?
Or, if they are purchasing our Hair Extension Shampoofrom our website, there is an opportunity to highlight the recommendation for our Hair Extension Conditioner too? Then, what about our Miracle Mist? Hair Oil? Plus, what about or collection of hairbrushes and combs? The options are truly endless…
4. Have A Gifting Landing Page
Whether it’s for your customers or customers friends and family, a landing page is a brilliant opportunity to upsell your products that would make for the perfect gifts this Christmas. Whether it’s gift vouchers, haircare, styling toolsor all of the above, having an easy-to-find location makes the process of purchasing a lot smoother and quicker for your website visitors.
5. Highlight Positive Testimonials
Also as mentioned in our Social Media tips, if somebody is interested in a product or service something that may help complete the upsell is testimonials. A positive review could potentially be their deciding factor for someone to purchase, so if you have any positive feedback from your clients about a product or service, share it on your website.
One of our wonderful Super Stylists, Alex Ferris implements this on her website, explaining “Having a review page for my business gives me a good platform for potential new clients to read the experience others have had here. This enables them to feel reassured and book with confidence knowing they are in safe hands."
