The Hair Trends To Try Summer 2021
The SS21 fashion week was a very different affair last September with the shows going ahead without audiences, but thankfully the low maintenance and easy to achieve trends were everywhere on the virtual catwalks. So easy to try, we’ll have them nailed in no time.
A low key affairThe name of the game is natural. Embrace your natural texture and leave your hair to dry naturally, or maybe dry those bonds first, for those pre-bonded extension lovers, and leave the ends to dry naturally to get the look still.
If you have never used the diffuser part to your hairdryer, now is the time to familiarise yourself with this. To keep the frizz down we recommend our Hair Oil and the Waving Comb.
Curls for the girlsWe’re talking mega curls, so those with mid to short lengths will achieve this well having less weight to their locks. Look up those foam curlers from the 80’s or invest in a curl wand to achieve curls that last all day and see Rodarte for the style you are trying to achieve.
On the side
Taking really deep partings to one side is super easy to try. How deep you go depends on your face shape, so play around from taking a line from the arch of your eyebrow to the outer edge of you eye. For super neat sections, treat yourself to our Pin Tail Comb.
Alternatively, tip your head to the side and brush your hair back to then wait to see which way the hair falls to find a natural side parting.
Chanel had this teamed with long low ponytails, but we also like this by Bluemarine sporting a clip to help those stray hairs.
Fringe fans
Ever since we saw the show 'Normal People' hit our screens we’ve obsessed over Marianne Sheridan (aka Daisy Edgar-Jones) bangs. Time to play with the length on your fringe, do you go short baby bang or long can’t see where you are going? Let’s help you decide here:
Cream of the crops
We’ve mentioned it before but the lob’s getting a trim too, and the bob is back. Just look at Kaia Gerber’s sharp shorter tresses that have been envied for a while, we are seeing more and more go for the chop.
Help create a sharp bob that holds its shape with our 10” length Micro Tapes. And obviously, when you miss your long locks, you can head back into your favourite extensionists chair to change your look.
Finishing touchesWith the low maintenance looks, a little accessorizing goes a long way. Like the Bluemarine picture above, they are useful to hold stray hairs, and even hide greasy locks if you are trying to get another day in between washes. The headbands from Dior and Erdem are perfect for WFH days.
Who can resist a bow? No longer just for the playground, Giambattista Valli showed us the grown up style to steal.
What do they say about those Bobby Pins? I got 99 bobby pins, but I can’t find one. Well invest in some pretty ones and get creative with multiple pins placed together for greater effect like these seen at Dries Van Noten.
If you are feeling more adventurous, we adore this challenge from hair legend Sam McKnight for Fendi. Do you think you could re-create this?
