All you need to know about our Tape Hair Extensions
Tape hair extensions are loved for the speed of application, making those transformations instantly achievable, even in your lunch hour.
They are perfect for first time extension wearers, and those with fine hair to add volume, length and add a splash of colour. Also to help others fix their hair woes such as breakage from colouring or heat, with a few tapes at the sides to hide the damage whilst their own hair repairs and grows.
RC Girlie Charlotte Crosby combines tapes with her weft, using them to add a lighter shade at the sides to frame her face.
When it comes to tapes we have a couple of options for you to consider. First up are our shorter length starting at just 10" - Micro Tapes. They have small tape tabs too at just 2cm wide, hence why we call them Micro. Slightly larger and with more length options are our Elegance Hair range with a Polyurethane Tape Top that is colour matched to the hair to be less noticeable once applied. The injection process for the Injection Tapes, looks like natural root and hair growth to conceal the extensions in the hair. For a little tape inspiration, have a look at this post and make sure your swipe to see the #lifthelid.
Finally, our Luxury hair range has its own Tape Hair too. With 4cm tabs too, this hair is naturally drawn and has a smaller colour range. If you’ve not already, watch the IGTV Meet our Luxury Range where our founder Victoria shows you, in close up, the differences between them.
- After cleanly sectioning the clients hair, and taking a sub section the same width of the tape; peel back the protective paper on the adhesive strip and place one tape underneath.
- Then with a second tape ready, place on the top to sandwich the hair in between, being careful to neatly line up to the bottom tape.
- Press down on the tape tops to remove any air and activate the adhesive. The Tape Hair Pliers will help secure the tapes in the hair.
TOP TIP: Blend different colours to create effects, using one tape colour on the bottom and another colour on the top.
SAFE REMOVAL Visiting a professional extensionist means that they are trained in safe removal and have access to the correct removal solutions & tools for these products. This helps ensure that the tape hair extensions will not damage your own hair. Using a few sprays of the Remover will start to break down the adhesive strips to aid peeling them back to remove from the hair before combing the hair through to remove any small residue.
MAINTENANCE How often you return to the salon for maintenance will depend on your own hair growth. As a general rule refitting will be every 6-8 weeks but your stylist will go through this with you at your consultation and application appointments. Following the removal, wash and dry, the tape hair can easily be re-tapped with our Tape Tabs. This means you can re-use the hair and make the most of the original outlay. Our Elegance hair range, for example, can be re-used for at least 12 months with the correct aftercare. Check out this great little video showing just how easy re-taping the extensions is.
